Masked thugs David Tierney and Cameron Robinson made a loud bang as they broke in and were discovered by the woman in her kitchen.
A terrified mum pleaded with masked robbers that her baby was upstairs as the balaclava-clad crooks raided her home.
But after noticing the police were nearby, Tierney shouted: “Lights!” before the woman quickly unlocked the door and both were arrested. Tierney, of Manchester, was jailed for four years and four months, and homeless Robinson for six years. On February 14 this year, at around 5.30am, the victim and her family were asleep when she was woken by the break-in. After running downstairs she was confronted by them, both wearing balaclavas.She pleaded with them about her baby, before noticing her recycling bin had been moved. She recognised Cameron Robinson as someone she had known for several years and felt shocked and terrified.”
Both men made their way through the house before being alerted to the police who were outside. They were arrested and later interviewed. Robinson said he was ‘not a burglar’ and that he had just ‘robbed a drug dealer'. Both were said to have previous convictions on their record, but did not have similar offences. At an earlier hearing, Tierney pleaded guilty to bringing an article into prison and burglary, and Robinson pleaded guilty to robbery.
