Plans Submitted for Pet Funeral Centre in Bolton

A Bolton-based pet funeral service has submitted retrospective plans to formalize the use of an outbuilding for providing small-scale pet funeral services, including viewing and memorial keepsake preparation. The facility will not offer cremation services on-site and operates on an appointment-only basis.

Plans for a ‘funeral centre’ for pets in an outbuilding in Bolton have been submitted. The retrospective plans, by Serenity Pet Funeral Services, seek to formalise the use of the outbuilding to the rear of a property on Tonge Moor Road.

Plans submitted to Bolton council in the past week state the use of the building as providing ‘small-scale pet funeral services’. “The application is principally concerned with the planning status of the use now taking place within the existing structure. ” The building is a former domestic garage at the rear of the main property. The statement said ‘the business does not undertake cremation on site’. It added: “The premises is used for low-key and respectful activities associated with end-of-life pet care.

The service is intentionally personal in nature and is operated on a small scale.

“The premises will not operate as a crematorium and there will be no combustion-related emissions. The use is therefore materially quieter and less intensive than a cremation facility.

“The premises will accommodate up to three pets at any one time. “This limited capacity is fundamental to the nature of the operation and ensures that activity remains small-scale and manageable. ” Proposed hours of operation for the use are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm and weekends and Bank Holidays, 9am to 2pm. Planners at Bolton council will consider the change of use in the coming weeks.
