A breakdown of the shocking conclusion to Prey season one, revealing DCI Andrea MacKenzie as the true killer and the events leading to the deaths of Marcus Farrow's family and a colleague.
Prey has quickly clawed its way up the Netflix charts with fans eager to know how series one ends. DS Susan Reinhardt is tasked with tracking down escaped prisoner DC Marcus Farrow after he is arrested and charged for the murder of his wife and youngest son.
He is able to flee when the police van transporting him crashes and Farrow runs off so he can find out who really murdered his family. Prey season one ending explained After taking the investigation into his own hands, Farrow discovers that it was DS Reinhardt’s boss DCI Andrea MacKenzie who had been responsible for their deaths.
Years prior to the events of Prey, she had been viciously assaulted by Turkish gangster Omer Hassan while she worked under cover, nearly killing her. To get her revenge, MacKenzie tracked him down, murdered Hassan and tried to cover up her involvement. Unfortunately, Farrow had discs which contained incriminating evidence to prove she was behind the killing.
In a bid to cover her tracks further, MacKenzie sent a burglar to break into his home and steal the discs but was disturbed by Farrow’s wife and son, leading to their murders. So MacKenzie then masterminds Farrow being the real killer as a distraction from her own crimes. It is also revealed that she was behind the death of her colleague DI Sean Devlin who was getting too close to the truth.
In an intense confrontation with Reindhardt recording MacKenzie’s confession, Farrow is soon exonerated of all charges against him. But not before MacKenzie tries to take her own life by shooting herself, however, Farrow is able to knock the gun out of her hand just in time. While her career and reputation are destroyed, Farrow is able to be reunited with his eldest son who thankfully survived the ordeal. Prey seasons one and two are available to watch on Netflix
