Nottingham 's fast-food scene is heating up with the arrival of S.W.A.T., a new burger joint that's setting its sights on capturing the hearts (and stomachs) of locals. Located in the heart of Long Row, directly opposite McDonald's and in close proximity to established burger competitor Ohannes, S.W.A.T. is entering a competitive market, but its owners are confident in their ability to stand out. Since opening its doors, S.W.A.T.
has been met with enthusiastic reviews, with customers praising the juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked smash burgers. The menu boasts nine distinct burger options, starting with classics like the beef patty and crispy chicken, both priced at £6.49. Each burger is served on a soft brioche bun and comes loaded with gooey American cheese, crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, tangy onions, house pickles, and the special S.W.A.T. sauce that promises an extra kick. For the ultimate deal, try the £10 box: a burger, two wings or tenders, two onion rings, a generous portion of fries, a dipping sauce, and a refreshing drink. S.W.A.T. takes inspiration from American diner fare with a burger served in a Martin bun (a US potato roll) and buffalo chicken served in a pretzel bun. However, the real fun begins with the customizable burger option: choose your burger, bun, and toppings such as mac & cheese, a fried egg for added richness, or fiery jalapenos for those who like it hot. The recently renovated building, which had been vacant for three years since Amora Express closed, is currently undergoing further decoration to complete the S.W.A.T. theme inspired by the renowned television series about the Los Angeles Police Department's elite Special Weapons and Tactics team. Harris Valappil and Anees Kizhakkayil are the brains behind this new venture. Anees emphasizes their commitment to using fresh ingredients, stating: 'Competition is good, but we are very confident. We will be on the top level for sure. Everything is fresh, the chicken, and the beef. My partner goes to the supplier every morning to get the fresh meat. We don't use anything frozen.' He further adds, 'All our customers are surprised by the value. Our reviews are five stars. Everyone likes the food. Once they taste it, they are coming back.' Looking ahead, the first floor of the building will be renovated by September to accommodate a dessert menu. In addition to classic favorites like cookie dough and waffles, Anees hints at introducing something unique, inspired by his time in Dubai.
