This article reviews Victoria Beckham Beauty, a premium makeup brand known for its luxurious eyeshadow palettes, balms, and eyeliners. The reviewer focuses on the Lid Lustre Shimmering Eyeshadow Pot in shade Mink, praising its blendability, shimmering finish, and long-lasting wear.
Singer-turned fashion and beauty mogul Victoria Beckham launched her beauty brand in September 2019. Starting out with an 11-piece 'smoky eye collection', a go-to look of hers, she wanted to create a beauty wardrobe to help women feel their best.
Over five years later, the brand has grown massively, even expanding into fragrance in September 2023. The products definitely sit on the premium end of the market, with luxe eyeshadow palettes, 'posh balms' and satin-textured eyeliners at the forefront of the collection. Co-owned by seasoned beauty brand builder Sarah Creal, who has developed products for the likes of Estee Lauder, Tom Ford and Bobbi Brown, I was keen to see if Victoria Beckham Beauty is of a similar standard.READ MORE: I'm a makeup artist and these are the best long-lasting primers for dry, oily and mature skin types Eyes In a nod to the brand's initial smoky-eye focus, the first thing I tried was the Lid Lustre Shimmering Eyeshadow Pot. Priced at £33, the brand describe it as a 'crystal-infused fine-pressed shadow that delivers ethereal shine and luscious colour'. Colours include emerald, tea-rose and starlight, however I went for shade Mink which is a taupe with gold and silver pearl, infused with tigers-eye crystal. The pressed formula glides on almost like a cream and I loved how you could blend it to be really sheer or achieve maximum pigment by packing it on thicker. Wearing it for a night out, the shimmering finish looked mesmerising in dim lighting and the colour nicely complimented my brown eyes. It stayed on well throughout the night - and took some work to remove - but I almost preferred how it looked after a few hours as it really melted into the skin giving that 'lived-in' look. As minimal amounts are required for maximum effect, I would definitely recommend the Lid Lustres to those who are willing to spend, as they would likely last for months and months, and give you a complete eyeshadow look in just one product. They'd also probably work well for those with mature skin, as the hydrating texture would smooth over any fine lines. Next up, I tried the Satin Kajal Liner which has a "long-wear and waterproof" formula. I went for shade cinnamon which is a dark brown with a shimmer - this is great for a softer, smokier look as it's not as harsh as a black. I love how you can either blend the product out to give a subtle smudged look, or apply as a pencil liner that won't budge . The pencil glides on with ease and I personally preferred the look of it being more smudged rather than keeping it neat- Victoria Beckham has certainly nailed its eye makeup. Lips As someone who loves the 'colour' category of makeup I had to also try the lip products. I went for the Posh Lip Set which is priced at £83 . This bundle is built in your basket and includes the Posh Lipstick, a Lip Definer and a Posh Gloss. Opting for a nude combination, I chose colours Pout , No2 and Bikini . The liner's formula also glides on smoothly, and the lipstick has a soft and 'pillowy' texture. For me, the best of the trio is the gloss which has no stickiness at all and lasted surprisingly long for a glossy formula - I hardly needed to touch it up. Again, these products impressed me, however I wouldn't say they stand out from many other lip items, unlike the Lid Lustre and Satin Kajal Liner which felt special compared to other items in my collection. Fragrance As a fragrance lover, I also wanted to try out one of the brand's signature genderless scents, particularly intrigued by Beckham's belief in 'the healing power of perfume'. After smelling the different options in the collection, I was instantly captivated by the San Ysidro Drive Eau de Parfum - although it comes with a hefty price tag. Sitting at £170 for a 50ml, or £245 for a 100ml, it's definitely one to save for the Christmas wish list. Described as a 'woody/floral' scent with notes of saffron, rose and amber, Beckham calls this her personal 'day to day' scent which I can totally understand. The nose behind San Ysidro Drive is renowned French perfumer Jérôme Epinette whose worked with top brands like Byredo, Van Cleef & Arpels and Floral Street. I find this scent both fresh and powerful, and its intensity is something I appreciate because it lasts really well throughout the day. Perfume tends to settle differently on each individual, but on me, I notice that after a few hours of wear the base really come through with vanilla being the lingering note. Final thoughts Overall, I really can see the quality and care that has gone into each product and having worked for Estee Lauder myself, have certainly noticed similarities between the two brands. This is evident in the long-wear formulas, the versatile colour options and the ability to wear one product in multiple ways. If you're looking to try out the brand yourself, I would recommend going for a set as you can bag a few products for less. Once you click on an item and scroll down the page, it will show any featured sets including that product, along with the discount. I also think the eye products were the standout, with the Lid Lustre being my favourite out of everything I tried. This would also make for a great present as it comes in luxe packaging and is like a cheat code to achieving the perfect smoky eye. Sticking to colour is safer for experimenting with new makeup, however I am now keen to put the complexion and skincare products to the test to get a true feel for the brand.
