A shopper reviews a mystery bag of clothes purchased from Havens Hospice's online charity shop, detailing the experience of receiving surprise items, including a black and white dress, a chiffon dress, a black skirt, and a pair of black trousers. The review highlights the fun of charity shop finds, the gamble of mystery items, and the value for money.
I absolutely love looking around a charity shop and stumbling across an incredible find. Merseyside is packed with great charity shop s supporting many good causes, and over the years I've found some unique items by trawling through their rails.
It's all part of the fun and a reason why I'll always visit a charity shop if I'm buying for a specific event or occasion. So, when I stumbled across the mystery bags, I wasn't too sure how I felt about it. Havens Hospice, which provides specialist care and support for people of all ages living with incurable conditions and their families, has an online shop offering customers mystery bags of clothes. The bags, which cost £12 plus a delivery fee, contain four items. Shoppers don't know what will be in the bag, but they can select their size and certain style, whether 'going out' or 'grunge'. There's obviously a risk with these sorts of things. Will the bag be filled with stuff that doesn't fit? Or will you end up with a bag of clothes which isn't your style? I decided to give it a go anyway, opting for the 'smart casual' option in hopes of getting some work clothes. My bag was ordered on Sunday evening and arrived by post on Thursday with my four mystery items inside. I opened it up and the first item was a black and white dress from Atelier R, a brand I hadn't heard of or could find much about online. It was a nice dress with a slim fit and retro design. I got a chiffon dress from Next which had a baggy fit. This one wasn't really my style, which was slightly disappointing. The next item was a plain black fitted skirt, which didn't seem to have any labels. It was a nice fit and knee-length, making it office-appropriate. The star item was a pair of black trousers from Whistle. A quick Google search will tell you that Whistle trousers can range from £39 to £99, so this felt like a win considering the mystery bag cost £12. Overall, I'd definitely give it another go as for £12, it is an absolute bargain. I was quite lucky with my purchase, as I'll wear three out of the four items, but there's always the risk that it could be zero items next time or if I am very lucky four out of four. By making my purchase, I supported the work of Havens Hospice, which will help adults and children living with complex or incurable conditions. More information can be found on the Havens Hospice website.
