Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver reveals his technique for cooking a melt-in-your-mouth sirloin steak without using oil or butter. He guides viewers through his method on YouTube, emphasizing the importance of rendering the steak fat for flavor and using fresh vegetables to create a rich sauce.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has shared his secret to cooking a perfect romantic steak dinner for Valentine's Day . The Channel 4 chef believes that if you want to impress your significant other on date night with a delectable sirloin, there's a special technique to guarantee a 'delicious, melt-in-your-mouth' experience. On his YouTube channel, Jamie guided viewers through the steps to make the ultimate steak without resorting to oil or butter.

Instead of using traditional greases, Jamie advised viewers to trim the fat off their steak and slice it into small chunks to create a natural, flavorful oil replacement. He explained, 'We're gonna cook a beautiful steak for date night, steak night. It's really quick, it's really delicious, I want to share with you a brilliant technique for making the perfect sirloin steak, tender, melt in your mouth, cut like butter.' Jamie demonstrated his approach, starting with a large non-stick pan over medium heat. He then took his sirloin steak and said, 'What I would suggest to do is pull this fat off, and this fat is really really important, it’s going to give you the flavor. But what we don’t want is that sinew. That really tough bit that you kind of push to the side. It's a real pain. So what I love to do is slice up into little chunks, and render it down. So instead of putting butter or oil in this pan, we’re going to cook the steak in the steak fat. Then get the knife and cut off the piece of sinew. Get rid of that.' He then instructed viewers to fry the chopped fat and add garlic cloves to infuse it with flavor. Next, season the steak generously with black pepper and sea salt, pressing it firmly into the meat. Jamie added, 'What I'm doing is going for one thicker steak for two people, and cook it medium medium rare.' Before introducing the steak to the pan, he tossed in some spring onions and sliced open two red chilis, ensuring the seeds were removed to keep the heat manageable. After allowing the vegetables to sizzle for a bit, he removed them from the pan and placed the seasoned steak in. The pan would now be rich with natural beef juices from the fat and vegetables. Jamie continued, 'When pan frying a steak, do it a minute on each side until it's cooked to your liking. Whether it’s well done, medium, medium rare, rare, whatever you like. For me medium rare is what I’m after, about three minutes on each side.' When the steak was cooked to perfection, Jamie removed it from the pan and placed it on top of the spring onions and chilis he had set aside earlier. For those feeling adventurous, Jamie suggested blending up a sauce using the remaining chilis, spring onions, and jarred peppers, then serving the sliced steak on top.
