Sultan Kosen, the world's tallest man at 8ft 3in, shares the emotional reason behind his divorce from his wife, Merve Dibo, citing family pressures and health struggles. He expresses deep sadness over the failed marriage, which lasted just eight years.

The world’s tallest man revealed the reason why his wife left him as he heartbreakingly declared: “I am very sad. ” Sultan Kosen , 43, stands at a staggering 8ft 3inches with his ex-wife, Merve Dibo, standing at just 5ft 6ins.

The supersize bloke, who has held his Guinness World Record for 17 years, married the Syrian woman in 2013. He said he “loved her very much” and it was his ultimate dream to find a life partner and to start a family. At the time of the wedding, which involved a ceremony with 1,500 guests, he said: “When I looked into her eyes, I knew it was love.

” Merve was just 20 at the time and a few months after the wedding rumours circulated that cracks had appeared in their relationship. However, speaking to the media at the time alongside his wife, Sultan, said: “Everyone is calling me, five, six people, call me every day.

'Is it true? Did your wife leave you?

' My wife didn’t go anywhere. I want everyone to see because my wife is here. ” And putting the rumours to bed, Merve replied: “There’s no such thing. I wish to stay with him all my life.

Yes, I am the happiest woman in the world. ” However, Sultan, who has gigantism and acromegaly which were caused by a tumour pressing on his pituitary gland, has now featured in a new Channel 4 documentary where he opened up about the divorce in 2021. As for the reason why, he heartbreakingly said: “We couldn’t continue. My wife chose her family.

We got divorced. Our happiness didn’t last long. ” And looking back on his wedding day photos, he said: “When it comes to my mind, I’m very sad, because it hurt me a lot and I loved her a lot. When I look at these photos, I get emotional.

I’m very sorry. ” The pressures of health, family and public scrutiny became too much, and the pair ended up going their separate ways. Sultan, who is from Turkey and comes from a family of farmers who are average height, said finding a new partner would make him the “happiest man in the world” but he is unsure whether it will ever happen.

Due to his gigantism, he has been dependent on wheelchairs and crutches to get around since he was 25. It has left him in “constant pain” because of the pressure on his knees. He also weighs over 26 stone and struggles with his mobility. Over the years he has had three surgeries on his legs and three brain operations to control symptoms of his extraordinary growth.

Speaking about this, he said: “If I wanted to change something in my life, I would only change my knees. I would like to run, walk and travel more. ” His brother meanwhile, Hasan Kosen, told the documentary: “Sultan could be happier. His free time is always spent on the computer.

But if he finds a girlfriend there can be other things in his life. ” However, as for whether this will happen, Sultan joked: “I’m very ugly. If I was handsome I would have found someone. ”
