Speaking about her character in 2018, Pugh told Metro: ‘She is gobby, she is fierce, she is very intelligent and funny, and she has a brilliant ability to manipulate a situation in the way that she wants. ’ She continued: ‘But those are her qualities, which I think that the moment we’re so used to female characters being so great – and that’s amazing – but what’s so fantastic about Charlie is that she’s very normal.
’ ‘I think that’s quite unique and special. We look at her and think, “She reminds me of all the special women in my life. ” ‘There’s nothing that amazing other than the fact that she’s normal. ’ Skarsgård plays the elusive Becker She stars opposite Skarsgård, who revealed that he’d never had signed on if the show had showed any signs of bias.
‘I would not have been in it had it not been a black and white, the good Israeli Mossad agents versus the evil Palestinian terrorists,’ the actor told Metro. ‘But I knew that wouldn’t be the case.
‘I’d read a couple of Le Carré’s novels prior to this, and he’s an extraordinary, intelligent writer, and he makes it morally difficult for you to pick a side, which is very, very important because I think it’s crucial to understand the plight of the other side. ’ The Little Drummer Girl is streaming now on Netflix UK.
