Asda reminds customers of its popular 'Kids Eat for £1' café meal deal, offering hot meals and a free piece of fruit for children under 16, available year-round with no minimum adult purchase.
Asda has sent out an 'important reminder' to customers regarding the £1 kids' café meal deal ahead of school half term next week. Asda today sent out the reminder to customers to take advantage of its hugely popular ‘Kids Eat for £1’ café meal deal over the school holidays , the offer which is also now on all year-round, with no adult purchase necessary.
The retailer recently refreshed the kids café menu with more nutritionally balanced offers, including new vegan and healthy meal options that support many cash strapped families . The supermarket launched the offer for kids under 16 to enjoy a hot meal in any of their 205 cafes in June 2022 and has now served millions of meals to kids in its cafes nationwide. The initiative stands apart from the many other retailers who offer similar, as the meal comes with no hidden extras such as a minimum adult spend. The supermarket has sought to remind customers of the £1 café meal deal, with more than 5.2 million £1 kids' meals served to date, peaking to over 40,000 a week during school holidays. A free piece of fruit is included with all kids’ hot meal deals as part of the deal. The kids menu has a variety of offers including dishes such as penne pasta with meatballs and a vegan hidden veggie pasta meal, alongside firm favourites fish fingers, chicken nuggets and the all day breakfast, there is also the option of swapping out chips for a salad or peas. In addition children will receive a free piece of fruit such as and apple, pear or banana when purchasing the hot kids £1 meal deal. As an alternative to a hot meal, Asda Café’s also offer a £1 cold pick and mix selection that includes a sandwich, drink and piece of fruit, the menu includes treats such as a jelly pot with whole fruit pieces or a jelly squeeze pouch as an alternative to a pack of crisps. Until the end of February, over 60's can also take advantage of Asda's Winter Warmer £1 soup and roll café meal deal, with unlimited tea or coffee, meaning a family of four can potentially eat for as little as £4. Gemma Rutter, Asda’s Café Category Manager, said: “We know that families are preparing for the school holidays and for many households, this can put additional strain on already tight budgets. Our kids eat for £1 initiative is designed to help families manage this juggle and since we launched the initiative in June 2022, we've been able to serve over 5.2 million meals. I'm delighted that this is an offer that is available all year round and not just in the school holidays, which demonstrates out long standing commitment in supporting families.' A number of other venues across the Liverpool City Region are also offering half term meal deals for kids. We compiled a list of 19 places where kids can eat for free or for £1 next week, which you can read here . Half term can be an expensive time for parents with all the activities you have to fork out for in order to keep your little ones entertained. And amid an ongoing cost of living crisis, many families find it difficult to cover the cost of a hot meal every lunchtime if their children are usually in receipt of a free school meal during term time. The good news is that a number of big name restaurants and cafes are offering kids' lunches for free or for a very low cost during the half term holidays. Some venues require a full price adult meal to be purchased in order for the free or reduced price kids' meal to be provided, but some places are offering the free meal with no additional spend. These meal deals make it much more affordable to keep the kids happy and fed during half term, with a range of different restaurants and cafes to choose from.
