The 21-year-old was caught with a package containing tobacco, rolling papers, and drugs hidden in his trousers. The judge emphasized the serious consequences of drug smuggling in prisons.
A young man has been jailed for trying to smuggle drugs into Nottinghamshire ’s Lowdham Grange prison. Nottingham Crown Court heard how Ahnaf Ahamed was purporting to be a visitor and was challenged as to whether he was trying to bring anything illegal into the jail when he arrived there and was patted down.
After initially replying “honest I have got nothing” the 21-year-old then relented and produced a cigar-shaped package from his trousers which contained tobacco, rolling papers and drugs compacted into the middle of it.
