Brits all across the country could still claim extra support in the coming weeks
The cost of living crisis is continuing to place immense pressure on people's finances. Another blow was hit dealt this week after Ofgem confirmed that bills will rise on average by £149 from October 1. It means bills will rise from £1,568 to £1,717 - adding around £12 a month on average to a person's bill.
Household Support Fund The HSF was first launched in October 2021 and has received a number of extensions since then. However, households don't have long to make a claim for any support they could be eligible for. Some councils are offering payments of up to £500 for eligible residents, although each council will offer varying levels of support depending on where you live and your financial situation.
This also applies if there is one adult and one full-time student or student nurse living together in a property, or if there is one adult and one person classed as 'severely mentally impaired' in the home. According to Citizens Advice, someone is classed as 'severely mentally impaired' if their mental health condition is permanent, such as having dementia.
