Amid the crowds in a tense Manchester city centre, a hand held up a sign bearing a simple, yet powerful message.
There were tense scenes as demonstrators were kept apart by rows of police officers. Two men were seen being detained by cops during the face-off, which lasted several hours.As the ‘Enough is Enough’ protest marched through the busy streets of the city centre, demonstrators chanted ‘England til I die’ and ‘Stop the boats'. They could also be heard singing the name of far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
The defiant message came after a number of mosques were targeted during several days of violent unrest around the UK linked to the deaths of three children in Southport.View gallery On Tuesday, a mosque in Southport was targeted by thugs who threw bricks at the building. On Friday night, rioters in Sunderland also attacked a mosque as well as torching a police station.
