Despite being stranded on the International Space Station since June 2024, astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams maintain a positive outlook and focus on completing their mission objectives.
Two NASA astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been on the International Space Station since June 2024, stated they do not feel like castaways. Their Boeing Starliner spacecraft encountered numerous problems, delaying their planned eight-day mission. While the Starliner returned to Earth in September without them, the astronauts remain optimistic.
During a live video event with NASA leaders, they expressed good spirits and a dedication to completing their tasks aboard the ISS before returning home. They also mentioned that they have yet to witness the California wildfires from space due to their orbital path but intend to capture images for assistance on the ground. Wilmore and Williams, both retired Navy captains, have faced repeated delays in their return journey. A February return was postponed again last month due to issues with the SpaceX rocket scheduled to transport them. They await the arrival of NASA's next crew to the ISS, enabling them to take their designated seats on the return rocket alongside NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov
