This week, Harvey’s lawyers filed a motion in a US court to strike the streaming giant’s attempts to have her £132 million lawsuit ditched before it could be heard by a jury.
Fiona Harvey has accused Netflix lawyers of treating her like “a football to be kicked around” after the streaming channel attempted to block her £130million lawsuit.
“This case will be concluded in California because what I have been subjected to has been horrendous.” Fiona alleges that Netflix’s show, written by and starring Gadd, defamed her through its portrayal of a violent stalker and that she was made to look like a “monster” in Netflix’s court documents. In the court papers, Fiona’s lawyers say: “Harvey, like Martha, are Scottish lawyers, 20 years older than Gadd, living in London, with identical accents, cadence and physical appearance, who both were accused in newspapers of stalking a barrister, and who messaged Gadd with the unusual euphemism for sex, ‘My curtains need hung badly’.Fiona sued Netflix in June, alleging that the company built its Emmy-nominated series on “brutal lies” that have ruined her life.
