August bank holiday is on the horizon and with it a host of festivals and events and the promise of a few last rays of summer sun
Summer may be drawing to a close but there is still one bank holiday on the horizon and the potential for a few final rays of sun for the season.After a terrible start to the summer weather-wise, many may be hoping it goes out with some style.Looking ahead to the weekend, the Met Office has said that after some spells of heavy rain with strong winds on Thursday and Friday, particularly in the north, the wind will ease a little into the weekend with just some scattered showers in the north.
Saturday looks likely to start with more rain at times in Northern Ireland but for the much of England and Wales it will be drier. Sunday will be a day of sunny spells and showers for England and Wales, although any showers are likely to be fairly sporadic in nature. “Throughout the period, temperatures are likely to be slightly below or around average for the time of year, with highs in the low 20s Celsius for those in the south, and slightly lower further north,’ he said.It kicks off on Sunday at 10am with an opening ceremony in Great Western Road and officially finishes on Monday at 8.30pm.is Steel Band Competition Day, when bands from across the country vie to be named the nation’s best. This runs from 4pm to 11pm.
