A body believed to that of a missing British man has been found more than a week after Spanish mountain rescue police were mobilised to help look for him.
Steven Michael B, 48, vanished in the northern Spanish village of Las Salas on July 11 after a row with his wife.Manuel Valbuena, mayor of the municipality of Cremenes which Las Salas is part of, told local press the dead man still had to be officially identified but everything was pointing to it being the missing Brit.
It emerged last Sunday mountain rescue police were among emergency teams looking for the keen mountaineer. Spain’s National Missing Persons Centre CNDES, which is part of the country’s Interior Ministry, published the first photo of the missing man shortly afterwards although it only partially named him.
On June 27 it emerged he had been found dead close to the Aspe Peak, a mountain in the western Pyrenees of Huesca on the western side of the Aragon Valley.
