PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has nominated career diplomat Raymond Balatbat as the ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen, a statement from the office of Surigao del Sur 2nd District Rep. Johnny Pimentel.
Pimentel, an assistant minority leader of the Commission on Appointments , said on Sunday the President nominated Balatbat on June 3 and that the commission received his papers two days later.Balatbat is the country's ambassador to Lebanon and has served as executive director of the Department of Foreign Affairs' Office of Middle East and African Affairs. Pimentel confirmed that the commission has received the new appointment papers of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.'The CA won't be able to act on any new nominations or appointments until mid or late August at the earliest,' he said.The Congress adjourned sine die in late May. The 19th Congress' third and last regular session will open on July 22.The Senate president serves as the commission's ex-officio chairman.
