His ability on both sides of the ball has been evident since he joined from Leicester City in 2020. That he’s standing out in a poor Chelsea side gives solid reasoning to transfer interest from Man City.for the summer, with reports suggesting the Blues could look to sell. That’ll prolong his contract, which is currently set to run out in 2025, until 2027. This is a positive step for Chelsea amid a tumultuous period on and off the pitch.
Indeed, tying one of the club’s best performers down is a statement that the ownership has faith in the side. They could just as easily have shipped him off to City for a decent fee and gone in search of a player to replace him with.
