Christmas Close, a Lancashire estate, is a magical haven of Christmas with residents going all out to decorate their homes and gardens. The display features tens of thousands of lights and attracts visitors from far and wide. Christmas Close also raises thousands of pounds for charity each year.

It gets bigger, brighter, and merrier every year. With over 20 years in the making, one estate in Thornton-Cleveleys is a magical haven of Christmas . Affectionately dubbed Christmas Close, the estate is inhabited by a number of residents who are keen to keep the magic of the festive period well and truly alive - and it's a sight to behold.

It's real name, the less festive Borage Close, is home to residents like David Bamber and Sheryl and Les Corcoran who spend the weeks, even months before Christmas, decorating their homes and front gardens. The whole display of 13 houses automatically comes to life at 4.30pm with tens of thousands of lights lighting up the skies. When LancsLive visited the estate before Christmas, residents Sheryl and Les Corcoran spoke about neighbour David Bamber who helps everyone with their lights and organises the charity aspect. 'David is like Mr Christmas,' Sheryl said. 'He helps everyone put their decorations up if they need it.' Christmas Close began over 20 years ago when many of the residents moved in to the area. Since then, the lights have grown and grown, with many homeowners taking the project as a serious way of introducing Christmas, particularly as children and families travel from elsewhere for a look. Not only is the estate filled with festive joy, but it's also doing some good for the wider community too. The total raised for charity this year has been £5,000, with people visiting the estate and donating in the collection boxes outside the properties. Other work includes the Christmas toy appeal, which raised £500 and more for other charities. £1,354.27 was raised for Homeless Hounds and £3,762.69 for Brian House Children’s Hospice. This means the estate has collected over £20,000 for the hospice in total
