The high street staple, which currently has more than 2,500 stores across the UK, recently outlined its hopes to have 3,500 outlets in the future

National bakery chain Greggs seems likely to open a new store at a retail park in Nottinghamshire after a telling clue surfaced. The sandwich and pasties seller has applied to change Unit 2B at Wilford Lane Retail Park in West Bridgford into a new store as part of a plan to open ever more stores across the UK.

The firm is looking to replace the former Dunkin' Donuts, which opened in 2022 but left the Becket Way retail park in February. Greggs representatives have asked for planning permission to put up its familiar brand signage, as well as fitting the equipment needed to serve sausage rolls, donuts, and other customer favourites.

. Rushcliffe Borough Council's senior environmental health officer said the council department had no objection to the proposals for its new West Bridgford branch, according to planning documents.Compton Acres councillor Alan Phillips and Nottinghamshire County Council, which manages the highways around the retail park, told planning officers they did not oppose the plans. The planning application is pending consideration by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Greggs recently confirmed it would be opening another Nottinghamshire store in Carlton over the coming months. The company revealed this after submitting plans to turn the old Lloyds Bank on Carlton Hill into one of its new locations.
