It happened in the quiet village of Timsbury.
A cordon has been lifted after the bomb squad was called to a village near Bath on the morning of Tuesday 16 July.
"At 4.44am, Avon Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a fire at an address in High Street. They informed us of the incident at 5.15am. "EOD ensured the items were made safe, and following further checks of the property, we were able to initially reduce the cordon size earlier this afternoon.
