Coronation Street viewers were left stunned on Monday's episode when the truth behind the Platt family fire was revealed. Max Turner, seemingly driven by unknown motives, was identified as the arsonist, using a hoodie purchased for him as a clue. The revelation raised eyebrows among viewers, questioning the police's quick deduction and leaving Max's fate uncertain.

On Monday's episode of the ITV soap, Coronation Street, viewers were left with a plethora of unanswered questions after the real arsonist was revealed. Following last week's dramatic scenes where the Platt household was engulfed in flames, Kevin showed Shona CCTV footage of the arsonist in action. A petrol-soaked rag had been pushed through the letterbox at number eight the previous week, leaving Max and Toyah hospitalized and fighting for their lives.

The residents of the street quickly realized the fire was no accident, and a number of suspects were questioned by PC Kit Green, including David and Leanne. However, Monday's episode revealed to viewers that Max himself had started the fire. After seeing Kevin's CCTV footage, Shona pieced together the evidence, noticing the arsonist wearing the hoodie she had bought Max for Christmas. She confronted him at the hospital, expressing her disbelief and anger: 'Kev's got CCTV, you were wearing the hoodie I got you for Christmas, Max, what were you thinking? You absolute idiot, I mean why the hoodie?'She pointed out the clue: 'It's got a logo for a skater brand that they only sell in one shop in Manchester. How long do you think it's going to be until they trace it and trace the mug who paid for it?' David attempted to retrieve the incriminating hoodie, fearing it would ruin Max's life. Max claimed he had hidden it behind Underworld, assuring David, 'I'll get it back, don't worry, they won't find it.' But as the episode drew to a close, the police had already obtained the evidence, leaving viewers bewildered about the unlikely storyline and how they could have guessed where the hoodie was hidden. Coronation Street fans took to social media to express their confusion, questioning how the police would have known about the hoodie in the Underworld bins. One viewer commented, 'How did they know about the hoodie !! Who phoned the police, so many questions.' Others echoed their bewilderment, asking, 'Why would a police officer randomly be raking in bins round the back of a knicker factory? Come on,' and 'So how did that policewoman know Max's hoodie was in the factory bin?' Viewers were left on the edge of their seats, as Max's fate hung in the balance. Earlier this year, Paddy Bever, who plays Max, revealed he is leaving Coronation Street to pursue new acting opportunities. The 22-year-old has already completed filming his final scenes as Max Turner, which are set to air in early spring. Speaking to The Mirror, Bever expressed his difficult decision: 'After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.' Coronation Street continues on ITV1 on Wednesday at 8pm
