On Monday's episode of the ITV soap, Coronation Street, viewers were left with a plethora of unanswered questions after the real arsonist was revealed. Following last week's dramatic scenes where the Platt household was engulfed in flames, Kevin showed Shona CCTV footage of the arsonist in action. A petrol-soaked rag had been pushed through the letterbox at number eight the previous week, leaving Max and Toyah hospitalized and fighting for their lives.
The residents of the street quickly realized the fire was no accident, and a number of suspects were questioned by PC Kit Green, including David and Leanne. However, Monday's episode revealed to viewers that Max himself had started the fire. After seeing Kevin's CCTV footage, Shona pieced together the evidence, noticing the arsonist wearing the hoodie she had bought Max for Christmas. Max claimed he had hidden it behind Underworld, assuring David, 'I'll get it back, don't worry, they won't find it.'
