Coronation Street icon Steven Arnold has been spotted working in a high street butcher's shop
In a fascinating turn of events, Coronation Street enthusiasts have been left speechless after spotting a beloved figure from the show working 'a very normal job' away from the small screen.
Debuting on the ITV soap back in 1995 as the son of the bombastic Fred Elliott , known for his "I say" catchphrase, and Kathleen Gutteridge , Ashley was originally brought up by Fred's sister Beryl and her husband under the belief that Fred was his uncle, only later discovering the truth - Fred was his dad.
Leeds shoppers were left gobsmacked when they spotted a familiar face working at Bennett's of Yorkshire Quality Butchers. Steven Arnold, known for his role on the small screen, was seen cheerfully serving customers and even snapped a selfie with an astonished fan who quipped: "What a lovely burger served by an equally lovely guy."
A third remarked: "Lovely to see Ashley. Wondered what had happened to him." While another added a humorous twist: "Ashley from Corrie playing the role of a butcher and it now looks like he is ." Admirers also praised his work ethic, with one saying: "Earning an honest crust like us all x well done son x."
