Max Turner confesses to starting the fire at No.8 Coronation Street, revealing that he was trying to help get the Radcliffes and Harvey Gaskell off the Platt family's back.
A devastating fire ravaged No.8 Coronation Street last week, leaving the Platt family homeless and an arsonist on the loose. Detective Constable Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) took his task of finding the fire starter very seriously, making two arrests. Unfortunately, tonight's episode revealed that neither of his suspects were responsible.
After reviewing the CCTV footage Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) found at the garage, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) instantly recognized the jumper the culprit was wearing. She rushed to the hospital and confronted Max Turner (Paddy Bever), pointing out that it was the same jumper she had bought him for Christmas. Max finally confessed to starting the fire, explaining that he was trying to help get Harvey Gaskell and the Radcliffes off their backs. He admitted that David Platt's (Jack P Shepherd) jokes about torching the place inspired him, and he acted out of desperation to try and get the insurance money to pay David's debts. David arrived at the hospital, having been released from custody after his arrest in last week's episodes. As Shona filled him in on what happened during his absence, Max confessed to disposing of the incriminating hoodie in a bin behind Underworld.
