Safety works on the crumbling southern section have begun today.
The construction equipment has been spotted outside the historic B-listed building as attention turns to the gable end.
It comes after it was confirmed last week that the walls of the Victorian relic were 'at risk' of collapse.It is not known when demolition crews will start to dismantle the section, although South Ayrshire Council stated the contractor may have to carry out full or partial demolition. Drone footage released more than a week later addressed the worst fears as it revealed that entire floors had collapsed and extensive damage was done to scaffolding encased around the dangerous building.
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, councillor Martin Dowey said: “The council has a statutory duty to carry out urgent safety works to dangerous buildings to reduce or remove danger to the public.
