Eight flood warnings have been issued and hundreds of homes are set to be without power until 6pm
The outages hit areas across the county with engineers forced to respond in difficult conditions to restore electric supplies to homes and businesses. Electricity North West has warned that power may not be restored until 6pm tonight .
It comes after the first named storm of the season brought heavy rain and strong winds, with gusts of up to 80mph and people being urged to be cautious when travelling on the roads. The Environment Agency has issued eight 'act now' flood warnings for Cumbria and three separate flood alerts.The Met Office said winds will ease slightly as Storm Ashley moves north east on Monday, with a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells expected in its wake.
