Thick plumes of black smoke covered the area after the car caught fire
Dramatic video footage has shown the moment a car became engulfed in flames beside Manchester Airport on Monday afternoon .
Emergency services were called to the blaze on the Airport Spur road for the M56 at around 2.30pm. Clips posted online show how thick plumes of black smoke covered the area as the car went up in flames. Fire crews spent around an hour at the scene putting out the blaze. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more details on the incident.A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 2.30pm this afternoon , one fire engine from Wythenshawe Fire Station was called to attend a car fire on the M56 from Manchester Airport, Westbound.“Firefighters worked to make the area safe before departing after approximately one hour at the scene.
