The DWP has confirmed that benefits will rise in 2025 – here's how much they'll rise by

Millions of families are to get a benefit boost next year, after it was confirmed that rates will rise in April 2025. Chancellor Rachel Reeves has now set out the new rates for next year – which will have an effect on your Universal Credit, Child Benefit and other Department for Work and Pensions benefits.

Benefit boost Typically, benefits are increased each year in line with the inflation rate for the previous September. However, the only benefit not to increase by 1.7% next April will be the State Pension, which is protected by the triple-lock guarantee. It means that over 12 million pensioners will get an extra £47o next year, with recipients of Pension Credit getting further payments of £450 on average.
