The DWP has issued an update on the controversial benefit rules which were ruled 'unlawful' by a judge
The Department for Work and Pensions is facing a major overhaul of its Universal Credit rules after being taken to court over "unlawful" benefit deductions. The legal challenge came when a law graduate, Nathan Roberts, found £500 missing from his Universal Credit payments.
Over 1.2 million Brits are affected by deductions from their benefits each year, reports Birmingham Live. A spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions has stated: "We are now carefully considering this judgment. Millions of people rely on our welfare system every year and it is vital that it can be accessed by all who need it."
