An overview of how the Blues on international duty have fared during the break in the domestic schedule
Amadou Onana’s value to the Belgian international side is becoming increasingly clear after his latest performance.
He was dominant in the middle for Belgium against Azerbaijan, breaking up play, protecting possession and helping his side to push up the pitch. He did lose his player on the edge of the box for Azerbaijan’s best chance of the game but his performance was viewed positively and he stayed on for the whole match, which Belgium won 1-0.
Elsewhere during the international break, Jordan Pickford had a quiet game for England against Ukraine. There was little he could have done about Oleksandr Zinchenko’s goal - which was the hosts’ only shot on target. Vitalii Mykolenko on the other hand may be disappointed at Kyle Walker getting in behind the left back for England’s equaliser.
