Mridul Wadhwa, the transgender CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC), has resigned after an independent review found the facility failed to protect women-only spaces and that Wadhwa behaved unprofessionally. Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS) commissioned the report and has paused new referrals to the centre, stating it did not put survivors first or adhere to national standards.

"We are in daily communication with Rape Crisis Scotland, have met their urgent demands, and are currently implementing the recommendations in the report. We will continue to work alongside RCS to ensure our services not only meet but exceed the National Service Standards."

In a scathing online thread, the Harry Potter author wrote: "Today has seen the publication of a damning report into the culture of the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre under CEO Mridul Wadhwa. According to the report's author, legal specialist Vicky Ling, the regime of the rape crisis centre under the trans-identified CEO “caused damage” to survivors. Some “did not feel safe” using it.
