Thirteen English cities are on alert for a possible snowstorm towards the end of January and early February. WXCharts predicts snowfall in several areas, including Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, and Manchester. The BBC and Met Office offer differing forecasts, with the Met Office predicting a calmer pattern from Thursday.

Thirteen cities in England are preparing for the potential of a snowstorm at the end of January and into early February. According to recent snow charts and maps from WXCharts, which utilize Met Desk data, these areas could experience snowfall as the month comes to a close. The cities that might be affected include Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Coventry, Exeter, Gloucester, Hereford, Manchester, Plymouth, Stoke on Trent, Wolverhampton, and Worcester.

The predicted start time for the snow is around 6am on Thursday, January 30. The BBC Weather forecast for the upcoming period states: 'Thursday will bring abundant winter sunshine across the UK, with just a few showers, some wintry, in north Scotland and the Northern Isles. Friday will see a band of cloud and rain move across the UK with skies clearing behind it.' 'Saturday will be mostly dry and cloudy at first, with rain pushing in from the west in the evening.' Meanwhile, the Met Office has indicated that a calmer weather pattern is expected from Thursday, as a ridge of high pressure moves across the UK, promising a day that's drier, brighter, and less blustery for everyone, according to Birmingham Live. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Chris Almond recently provided an overview of the weather prospects for the coming days, noting: 'Most areas will be dry with sunny spells on Thursday, although there's the risk of some freezing fog patches at first. Cloud, outbreaks of rain and hill snow will spread to the northwest by the end of the day, and Friday will see a cloudy day in the south, with some sunshine further north, before the next band of cloud and rain arrives in the northwest later.' He added that 'Overall though, rainfall amounts will be lower than of late.' The BBC is predicting that the noticeably unsettled weather pattern will continue until midweek, characterized by several robust low-pressure systems. However, a transition is expected, with rising high pressure anticipated to create calmer conditions during the latter part of the following week. While forecasts for the subsequent fortnight suggest that high pressure will dominate mainland Europe, low-pressure systems are likely to navigate northward, finding a route between Scotland and Iceland
