Barry Maguire joined John Rankin's side on a two-year deal this summer
Barry Maguire knew he was at the right club when while making a cup of tea, he spotted a photo of himself while coming through Hamilton Accies’ academy.
Maguire is frustrated about how things ended up at Motherwell, having gone on loan to Dundee and Kidderminster Harriers in recent seasons. “I went in to make a cup of tea, and my picture was on the wall, from back in the day. I thought it was quite strange to see, but it’s good to be back.” “Once I got into contract negotiations, and knew a lot of the boys, I wouldn’t say it was a hard decision.
“I appreciate my time there. I grew up there, and it’s cliché, but I literally went from a boy to a man, from 17 until I left at 26, so I owe a big part to them.Maguire relishes a crack at the Championship with Hamilton and says the targets are simple. “I think everybody in the league knows how competitive the Championship is, just going on the last couple of years.Maguire made his competitive debut in Hamilton’s Premier Sports Cup Group H opener against Stirling Albion, which ended up in a 0-0 draw, with the League Two side taking the extra point from a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win.
