Two days of weather warnings for high winds have been issued by the Met Office, covering much of the UK, including Glasgow. 70mph gusts are forecast and travel disruption is predicted.
High winds are battering Glasgow this afternoon after a Met Office weather warning was issued for the city.
The warning came into force at 7am Saturday and will be in force until 11.59pm, when a second yellow warning for wind comes into force at midnight on Sunday. The Met Office warns of a "prolonged period of strong winds" that will "likely lead to some disruption over the weekend, especially to travel," and exacerbated by the Christmas rush.
The yellow warning for wind will be in place until 9pm on Sunday. In a statement, the Met Office said: "This has the potential to cause delays to public transport and some disruption to the road network, which may have a greater than usual impact given the busier pre-Christmas weekend travel. Dangerous coastal conditions can be expected too, with large waves an additional hazard."
