The UK is set to be battered by a bout of snow that could last for around 60 hours on several days in the next few weeks, according to the latest weather charts
The UK is set to be hit by approximately 60 hours of snow in the coming days, as an Arctic blast potentially looms. Weather maps suggest that snow will begin to fall in parts of western Scotland from midday on December 9, spreading to Northern Ireland, mid Wales, and areas of Cumbria and Lancashire by midnight on December 10.
However, the Met Office's long range forecast for December 1 to December 10 does not mention any snowfall. Brief unsettled and milder spells are expected as areas of low pressure cross the UK, bringing wind and rain for some.According to the Met Office's five-day weather forecast, heavy rain will slowly clear eastwards across central and southern England and Wales on Wednesday, with skies brightening to the west. Gales are possible in the southeast while fog and frost will clear elsewhere, bringing sunny spells and isolated showers.
