A luxury children's clothing expert has revealed a common mistake parents make when washing school uniforms that could be causing damage. Farah Mensah, from Lallie London, warns that using too much fabric conditioner can lead to bobbling and weaken the fabric over time.

School uniforms go through a lot and can be very expensive when you have to buy a whole new set every year. But there is one common error people make when washing uniforms that could be causing damage, according to experts. Farah Mensah, a luxury children's clothing expert at Lallie London , has said some parents could be causing premature bobbling of uniforms, particularly jumpers, when washing. She said: 'Always remember that less is more when it comes to fabric conditioner s.

Additionally, you can consider using a gentle detergent that’s specifically designed for delicate fabrics. 'Avoid harsh detergents with bleach or enzymes, as these can damage the fibres and cause premature wear and tear.' Farah also recommends spot cleaning as soon as you see a mark before washing to prevent a stain 'setting in' and to wash at 30 degrees unless they are particularly dirty as hot water can cause colours to fade.
