Ethan Ampadu has been one of Leeds United's most consistent performers in the Championship this season so far
Daniel Farke made it clear what he wanted from Ethan Ampadu in the very first meeting the pair had over the summer. Ampadu hadn’t even signed for the Whites yet, but Farke took the opportunity to lay out his expectations of the Wales international, explain his plans and pinpoint a few weaknesses in his game.
Of course, the 23-year-old is versatile and he has spent much of his senior career, prior to his switch to West Yorkshire, playing as a defender, spending time at the back during his loan spells at Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia. This season, then, is the first time he has had the chance to make a midfield spot his own and he seems to be thriving off the freedom he has been given to play his natural game.
“I've enjoyed it ,” Ampadu told Sky Bet. “It's probably been the first time I've really nailed down and played in one position and I think that can help with the finer details in trying to become the best in that position, which I think will end up helping the team.
