Not the face you would have expected with Ferrell's
There were a lot of old pals reunited at Elland Road on Saturday around Leeds Unied’s clash with Burnley. Jaidon Anthony returned to the stadium, but headed to the away dressing room this time.
There was also a moment between Scott Parker and Joe Rothwell during the match. As the latter returned from warming up he came across the Burnley boss and they shared a few words in a break in play. Parker was in charge when Bournemouth took Rothwell to Dorset from Blackburn Rovers, though he was sacked two months after the midfielder arrived.
He was first sighted as he emerged from the directors’ box, following chairman Paraag Marathe and chief operating officer Morrie Eisenberg. They went down to the dugouts, where the Anchorman star posed for pictures with the yellow away shirt, but also with two players. Illan Meslier, his favourite player, carried him out as a mascot for the friendly with Valencia in pre-season and spent time with him at the training ground too. It was particularly touching to see Meslier himself halt Saturday’s match, with the ball at his feet, to lead all the players in joining the applause for Bob, along with referee James Bell.
From then on, Mejbri was repeatedly reminded of his Old Trafford links until it all came to the boil after his substitution. As he walked around the perimeter of the pitch, he began holding his arms out, ironically clapping the home faithful and then goading them about the scoreline before celebrating with the away fans on his way around.
Bogle had a second thought about whether he should try to keep the awkward ball in play, but the stadium, en masse, left him in no doubt he should get himself out of the way.
