The penultimate episode of BBC's The Traitors saw University of Nottingham student Freddie Fraser betrayed and banished after agreeing to a treacherous deal with fellow Traitor Charlotte. His elimination came as a shock, as he was only recruited as a Traitor the day before. Charlotte's cunning plan involved witholding crucial information about Leanne's shield from Freddie, ultimately leading to his downfall.
BBC 's The Traitors is building a frenzy as the season three finale approaches tonight (Friday, January 24). Freddie Fraser , a student at the University of Nottingham, was banished yesterday despite only being recruited as a Traitor the night before. The 20-year-old from Peterborough faced an impossible choice from Traitor Charlotte on Wednesday's episode: become a Traitor or be 'murdered' and eliminated from the game.
Freddie accepted the treacherous proposition, but Charlotte had a hidden plan. Charlotte confided in the audience that while she knew Faithful Leanne possessed a shield, she chose to keep this information from Freddie. Charlotte hoped to manipulate Freddie into murdering Leanne, unknowingly leading to his own downfall. She explained, 'I decided to withhold from Freddie the fact that I know Leanne has the shield. Leanne only told me, Frankie and Jake, so I am going to use that information to my benefit. Which is kind of evil.'Last night, Charlotte's plan came to fruition. At the round table, suspicions about Freddie's loyalty arose, prompting Charlotte to betray him. Freddie stated, “The moment I walked into the turret, Charlotte lied to me — so that’s snakey. She’s playing the game ruthlessly. I can’t believe this little innocent Welsh girl . . . no, she’s not.” Freddie was partially right about Charlotte's true nature, as she has been feigning a Welsh accent throughout the game, believing it would make her appear more trustworthy. And it worked, at least initially. Upon discovering Charlotte's treachery, Freddie exclaimed, 'I was completely shocked — to the core. She was the last person I thought was a Traitor.' However, Charlotte's deception was ultimately exposed by Faithful Francesca, who used her power as The Seer to unveil her true identity. Will Charlotte succeed in persuading Francesca to keep her secret? If Charlotte wins, she will become the first recruited Traitor to triumph in the UK series. Last year's victor, Harry Clark, was initially selected as a Traitor from the show's outset, ultimately betraying Faithful Molly in the final. Before appearing on The Traitors, Freddie Fraser excelled in athletics, earning a gold medal in the hurdles at the UK under 17s London Games. However, after suffering a hamstring tear, he shifted his focus to his studies. Freddie is currently pursuing a degree in politics at the University of Nottingham and can be found on his Instagram account enjoying popular student haunts like indie-bar Bodega and nightclub Ocean. As the youngest contestant, Freddie captured viewers' hearts with his kind-hearted demeanor. The former track star took to TikTok to humorously address his failure as a Traitor. In an interview with the Radio Times, Freddie explained his motivation for joining the BBC show. He stated, 'I just think it’s such an interesting concept for a game, it’s very strategic and psychological, and it’s all about using your brain. I think I’ve got a skill set that makes me suited to being quite good at the game and I thought why not just give it a go and apply, and here we are.' Although Freddie's journey on The Traitors has concluded, the remaining players are yet to determine their fate. The grand finale will reveal all tonight. You can catch the final episode of The Traitors at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
