Mohammed Asim Afzal received the donation from his wife, transforming his life and giving him the opportunity to be an active dad for their two daughters, Aliah and Zia.
A Glasgow man has paid tribute to his "wonderful" wife who donated a kidney to him, saying he "wouldn’t be here" without her.

If more of us choose to donate organs, it could significantly reduce waiting times to be on par with the rest of the population. Why wouldn’t we do everything we can to make a positive difference? Every extra month someone spends on dialysis is another month of living a half-life.
Asim continued: “I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude to my wife, the NHS in Scotland, and the researchers that made my transplant possible. Without it, I literally wouldn’t be here, achieving what I am today. Participating in the Glasgow Bridges Walk is the very least I can do to help future research into kidney disease.”
