Natalie Lightfoot, who runs the Londis Solo Convenience Store on Main Street, Ballieston, was nominated by customers for her community work, including covid deliveries and Beatson fundraising.

A Glasgow shopkeeper has won a national prize for her community work after helping an elderly woman with Alzheimer’s who had become lost.

“I noticed that her eyebrow was bleeding,” said Natalie. “I said, ‘I’m terribly sorry, but have you fallen over?’” Natalie shares the top spot with father-and-son team Raj and Manish Suchak, from Brighton. Businesses couldn’t enter directly, with shopkeepers instead being nominated by customers and readers.

“They do phenomenal work for the families of people with cancer as well as those who might be going into a hospice.”
