It comes after periods of snow, sleet and flooding in recent days. The warning is in force until midday, with people urged to take care on icy roads and pavements. Temperatures dropped well below freezing across Greater Manchester overnight.
Manchester is waking up to -1C this morning, but more remote and hilly areas are seeing cooler temperatures - including -2C in Saddleworth and -3C in Ramsbottom. Greater Manchester should see crisp, winter sunshine throughout today. Dry weather is forecast across the region, with some cloudy patches in Manchester, Salford and Trafford, and mostly clear skies elsewhere. The region will see highs of 2C by around 3pm according to the Met Office. Conditions will swiftly cool down again, however, with a dry and largely clear night. Temperatures are forecast to fall to -4C in most areas of the region, but more remote and hilly areas will see colder figures. Saddleworth and Littleborough are forecast for -7, with -6C expected in Ramsbottom and Mossley. Conditions will cool even further on Thursday. Similar dry, sunny weather is forecast across the region, with highs of 2C in Manchester. Lows could vary between -3C in the city all the way to -10C in Littleborough, according to the Met Office
