) - Two Gulf Shores Police officers are heading to Washington, DC on a mission of hope. They’ll be riding their bicycles 250 miles from Chesapeake, VA to the Law Enforcement Memorial in DC as part of the Law Enforcement United Road to Hope campaign.

Gulf Shores Police Officer, Brandon Shelton and Sgt. Landon Coker discuss upcoming ride with LEU liaisons prior to departure“Law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty every year.

“When you’re arriving in Washington, DC you’re meeting the families that you’re given an end of watch band for and you’re riding for the whole time. You’re looking down at your wrist and you’re remembering that officer so that’s what makes the arrival ceremony so emotional,” Shelton recalled.
