The views of the Mersey are accompanied by stunning Victorian-era terraces
I think that a stroll alongside the River Mersey is one of the best things about living in our region. I love taking a walk down the Pier Head or Otterspool Promenade, the only downside is that everyone else loves them too.
Now, anybody can walk into the conservation area. However, several warning signs remind you some areas are not public rights of way. Two of the entrances are marked with imposing sandstone gates with ‘PRIVATE’ written on either side. It’s separate from the main Otterspool Promenade, and I found it smaller and far quieter. The street is lined with cream houses, giving the feel of the wealthy seaside town you’d see in an old film.
