Advisor and former chairman Alan Savage says the club have 'won a watch' in a major boost for their future
Financially-stricken Inverness Caley Thistle believe they are set for a new dawn after £3million of historic debts were wiped out – with backing from Sir Alex Ferguson .
Savage and his representatives, GRM Marketing, will fly out to Lisbon on Monday next week for talks with a group who are understood to have recently bought Italian Serie A club Monza. By far the most significant gesture from those owed money came from previous chairman Ross Morrison who pledged to waive a massive sum of around £2.1 million owed to him in loans. It is understood Morrison had taken security on the north and south stands, and two club car parks for that sum last December.
“I was brought in a week ago by Panos , the acting chairman, to try and help him out and bring some clarity to matters. The first thing I realised rid of Scot Gardiner, which was a major problem for the club. Caley Thistle needed to achieve a clear understanding of the depth of their financial woes, and remove debts, to make the club more appealing to potential buyers or investors. Under controversial past CEO Gardiner, now replaced by Charlie Christie, it is claimed relations with the local business community, and a great many club stakeholders, had soured almost beyond repair.
