It was confirmed back in May that the sitcom would return for another Christmas special later this year.This week, James confirmed that he’s headed to Wales following the end of his West End play as filming is about to begin.

The finale is set to air this Christmas after James posted a picture of himself and Ruth on Instagram confirming that they had written the final script. Printed on the front of it were the words: “Gavin and Stacey: the finale.”
