The Hollywood, Florida native said in the book he felt that the character was too peripheral and the scene too brief to live up the director's hype. The chat was 'about the specific nature of LeFou's devotion to Gaston,' Gad said, adding that 'in the course of our discussions, we tried to distinguish whether or not LeFou loved Gaston or was in love with Gaston.'
He said of the reaction, 'Everyone looked at each other and said:"Wait, that's it? That's what all the fuss was about?"'
