Morecambe men died in failed escape from club after gas canister exploded
An inquest has opened into the deaths of two men who succumbed to smoke inhalation after they were unable to escape from a working men's club when a gas canister exploded.

However, the outer door was locked and the push mechanism on the first door was broken and wouldn't work.
CCTV footage of the fire which was played to the jury showed how quickly smoke filled the club. As panicked customers race outside Tony can be seen towards the rear and within 55 seconds the entire interior of the club was filled with thick black smoke.
