Lindsay Clancy, accused of killing her three children, plans to argue lack of criminal responsibility due to mental illness.

Lindsay Clancy, the mother from Duxbury, Massachusetts , accused of killing her three children in 2023, plans to argue a lack of criminal responsibility at trial due to her mental state. Her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, filed a notice of lack of criminal responsibility on Friday, stating that the defendant's statements about her mental condition will be supported by expert witnesses and that she intends to present this as her defense.

Another filing by the defense, also on Friday, requests a trial date in September 2025. Reddington believes that DNA testing results and expert reports, although still pending, will be completed well before that date. The children, Cora (5), Dawson (3), and Callan (8 months), died on January 24, 2023. Authorities say Clancy cut herself and jumped out a window after killing her children in an apparent suicide attempt. Clancy's husband, Patrick Clancy, has spoken publicly about his wife's mental health struggles and the warning signs he observed before the tragedy. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in the Clancy case, although Clancy's appearance has been waived. She was last known to be at Tewksbury Hospital for court-ordered mental treatment, but it is unclear if she remains there
